1-2-1 speed coaching

Ever heard a rugby coach complain that a player was too fast?

Us neither.

Speed is a quality often misunderstood. Just as some bring different levels of untrained strength or coordination to the table, there is no denying that not everyone is equal in terms of the speed that they may demonstrate when they first step foot on the pitch. However, that is not to say that speed cannot be trained and improved. The truth is relatively few footballers, rugby or hockey players have particularly exceptional levels of speed so an emphasis on this particular athletic quality can really set a player apart compared to their team mates.

Speed coaching can also play a valuable role in injury prevention. Sprinting is an extremely high intensity activity and requires a huge expression of force. Proper sprinting technique can ensure that the body is managing those forces in the most efficient way, reducing the risk of injury.
